Horror Review: The Clovehitch Killer (2018)

A picture-perfect family is shattered when the work of a serial killer hits too close to home.

The line between Horror and Thriller is very much a marginal one, luckily for Horror fans we seem to love both.

I’d heard about this film so decided it was time to check it out, I’m always up for a serial killer Thriller so I was quite looking forward to it. I went into this film expecting the usual things you get from these style of films, if you’re familiar with them I’m sure you all know what I mean.
From the off I must admit that I was a bit skeptical the plot just seemed to unfold very quickly and I found myself confused about it, but I persevered hoping all would be explained as to why it was revealing so much so quickly. I’m certainly glad that I did as I was rewarded with a great story that kept my attention.
I’ll try not to give too much away but what I will say is that this film will be very polarizing, some of you will find this quite a boring viewing, some of you will enjoy the slower pace of the feature. It will also disappoint some Horror fans looking for blood and death scenes, this film goes more for the psychological jugular.
The film does have its flaws, in my personal opinion I thought it could’ve been more gripping with a bit more suspense to it but that is made up for with amazing performances from the cast.┬áDylan McDermott was a real highlight, I didn’t even recognise him at first.
“The Clovehitch Killer” is certainly not for everyone, for those who are willing to give it a chance I think you’re in for a treat.
