My Best & Worst Films Of 2023

With this list I’m going to give you a run-down of my best & worst Horror films of 2023.

If you want to see the trailers for these films just click on the film name, I’d also like to point out they are in no particular favourite order, So here we go:

The Exorcist: Believer – When his daughter, Angela, and her friend Katherine, show signs of demonic possession, it unleashes a chain of events that forces single father Victor Fielding to confront the nadir of evil.

When Evil Lurks – The residents of a small rural town discover that a demon is about to be born among them. They desperately try to escape – but it may be too late.

It’s A Wonderful Knife – When she wishes she’d never been born, she finds herself in a nightmare parallel universe where without her, things could be much, much worse.

The Unheard – After undergoing an experimental procedure to restore her damaged hearing, 20-year-old Chloe Grayden begins to suffer from auditory hallucinations seemingly related to the mysterious disappearance of her mother.

Totally Killer – When the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer” returns 35 years after his first murder spree to claim another victim, 17-year-old Jamie accidentally travels back in time to 1987, determined to stop the killer before he can start.

Evil Dead Rise – A reunion between two estranged sisters gets cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Influencer – Social media influencer Madison is struggling on a solo backpacking trip in Thailand when she meets CW, who travels with ease and shows her a more uninhibited way of living.

SAW X – Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.

The Boogeyman – Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her younger sister find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.

Birth/Rebirth – A morgue technician successfully reanimates the body of a little girl, but she must harvest biological materials from pregnant women to keep the child breathing.

Infinity Pool – Guided by a seductive and mysterious woman, a couple on vacation venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism and untold horror.

The Blackening – Seven friends go away for the weekend and end up trapped in a cabin with a killer who has a vendetta. Will their street smarts and knowledge of horror movies help them stay alive? Probably not.

Talk To Me – When a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits with an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill and high-stakes party game — until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

M3gan – A robotics engineer at a toy company builds a life-like doll that begins to take on a life of its own.

The Creeping – A concerned young woman moves home to look after her ailing grandmother and soon finds herself fighting a malevolent presence with a dark secret.

Renfield – Renfield, the tortured aide to his narcissistic boss, Dracula, is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding. However, after centuries of servitude, he’s ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of the Prince of Darkness.

V/H/S/85 – Unveiled through a made-for-TV documentary, five tales of found footage horror emerge to take viewers on a terrifying journey into the grim underbelly of the 1980s.

The Pale Blue Eye – A world-weary detective is hired to investigate the murder of a West Point cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case – a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.

Knock At The Cabin – While vacationing, a girl and her parents are taken hostage by armed strangers who demand that the family make a choice to avert the apocalypse.

Sick – Due to the pandemic, Parker and her best friend decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone – or so they think.

The Last Voyage Of The Demeter – The crew of the merchant ship Demeter sets sail from Carpathia to London to deliver a cargo of 50 unmarked wooden crates. However, they soon discover they’re not alone as Dracula’s unholy presence turns the trip into a nightmarish fight for survival.

No One Will Save You – An exiled anxiety-ridden homebody must battle an alien who’s found its way into her home.

Project Wolf Hunting – A group of police officers fights against dangerous criminals being transferred on a cargo ship bound for Busan, South Korea.

Thanksgiving – An axe-wielding maniac terrorises residents of Plymouth, Massachusetts, after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy. Picking off victims one by one, the seemingly random revenge killings soon become part of a larger, sinister plan.

Sister Death – A novice with supernatural powers arrives at a former convent, now a school for girls. The strange events and disturbing situations that torment her will lead her to unravel the skein of secrets that surround the convent and haunt its inhabitants.

Living With Chucky – A film producer who grew up with Chucky the Killer Doll seeks out the other families surrounding The Killer Doll films to share their experiences working on the franchise and what it means.

Brooklyn 45 – Five military veterans, best friends since childhood, gather together to support their troubled host, and the metaphoric ghosts of their past become all-too-literal.

Insidious: The Red Door – Josh Lambert heads east to drop his son, Dalton, off at school. However, Dalton’s college dream soon becomes a living nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.

The Conference – A team-building conference for municipal employees turns into a nightmare when accusations of corruption begin to circulate and plague the work environment. At the same time, a mysterious figure begins murdering the participants.

The Nun II – 1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.

Satanic Hispanics – When police break into a house in El Paso, they find it filled with dead Latinos and a lone survivor. Known as “El Viajero,” he is taken to the police station for questioning.

Dark Harvest – Teens confront a legendary supernatural spectre that emerges from the cornfields of a small Midwestern town every fall.

There’s Something In The Barn – An American family fulfills their dream of moving back after inheriting a remote cabin in the mountains of Norway.

Suitable Flesh – A psychiatrist becomes obsessed with one of her young patients, who she later discovers is linked to an ancient curse.

Dark Windows – A group of teenagers take a trip to an isolated summerhouse in the countryside. What starts as a peaceful getaway turns into a horrific nightmare when a masked man begins to terrorize them in the most gruesome ways.

Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story – Since first donning a tattered fedora and a glove of eviscerating blades in 1984, Robert Englund has become a beloved horror icon.

Candy Land – A seemingly naive and devout young woman navigates her way into the underground world of truck stop sex workers.

Organ Trail – A young Abigale Archer alone in the Montana winter during the 1870s who fights for her survival and to retrieve her one earthly possession, a family horse, from a gang of bloodthirsty bandits.

Unwelcome – A couple escape their urban nightmare to the tranquility of rural Ireland, only to hear stories of mysterious creatures who live in the gnarled, ancient woods at the foot of their garden.

Sharksploitation – In the wake of the blockbuster classic Jaws (1975), a new subgenre was born. This documentary explores the weird, wild cinematic legacy of sharks on film and the world’s undying fascination.

Demonic Toys: Jack-Attack – A young orphaned girl without the ability of speech finds that she has been gifted with the notorious Jack in the Box from the Demonic Toys.

The Passenger – A man is forced to face his fears and confront his troubled past. He must find a way to survive when his co-worker snaps and goes on a violent killing spree.

Herd – When a woman trying to outrun her past ends up trapped between a zombie outbreak and warring militia groups, she must fight to find her way back home.

The Strays – A woman’s meticulously-crafted life of privilege unravels when two strangers show up in her quaint suburban town.

Perpetrator – Reckless teen Jonny Baptiste is sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie. On her 18th birthday, she experiences a radical metamorphosis: a family spell that redefines her, called Forevering. When several girls go missing at school, a feral Jonny hunts the perpetrator.

Cobweb – An eight-year-old boy tries to investigate the mysterious knocking sounds that are coming from inside the walls of his house, unveiling a dark secret that his sinister parents have kept hidden from him.

The Pope’s Exorcist – Father Gabriele Amorth, chief exorcist for the Vatican, battles Satan and innocent-possessing demons. A detailed portrait of a priest who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey – After Christopher Robin abandons them for college, Pooh and Piglet embark on a bloody rampage as they search for a new source of food.

Snow Falls – After a winter storm strands five friends in a remote cabin with no power and little food, disorientation slowly claims their sanity as each of them succumbs to a fear that the snow itself may be contaminated or somehow evil.

Fear – A much needed getaway and a celebration weekend turns into a nightmare due to the contagious airborne threat.

The Strays – A woman’s meticulously-crafted life of privilege unravels when two strangers show up in her quaint suburban town.

Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor – A group of cold case investigators stay at the Carmichael Manor. After four nights, the group was never heard from again. What is discovered on their footage is even more disturbing than anything found on the Hell House tapes.

Children Of The Corn – Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a 12-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. Soon, a bright high school student who won’t go along with the plan becomes the town’s only hope for survival.

The Black Demon – Oilman Paul Sturges’ idyllic family vacation turns into a living nightmare when they encounter a gigantic megalodon shark that will stop at nothing to protect its territory. Stranded and under constant attack, Paul and his family must somehow find a way to get back to shore alive before it strikes again.

Slotherhouse – Senior Emily Young wants to be elected sorority president. She adopts a cute sloth, thinking it will help her win, but a string of fatalities implicates the sloth.

Nefarious – On the day of his scheduled execution, a convicted serial killer tells a psychiatrist that he’s a demon who can possess his body. As the evaluation ends, he also tells the doctor that he will soon commit three murders of his own.

The Sacrifice Game – It’s bad enough that boarding school students Samantha and Clara can’t go home for the holidays, but things take a deadly turn when a murderous gang arrives on their doorstep – just in time for Christmas.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines – In 1969, a young Jud Crandall dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within. Jud is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow.

The Park – After a virus kills all of the Earth’s adults, rival children battle for control of an abandoned theme park.

All Fun And Games – Salem teens discover a cursed knife, unleashing a demon that forces them to play gruesome, deadly versions of childhood games where there can be no winners, only survivors.

Dear David – After responding to Internet trolls, a man becomes haunted by the ghost of a dead child named David. Based on the viral Twitter thread by BuzzFeed comic artist Adam Ellis.

Skinamarink – Two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished.

The Outwaters – Four travelers encounter menacing phenomena while camping in a remote stretch of the Mojave Desert.

Loop Track – A man on the verge of a nervous breakdown retreats to the bush, only to encounter other trampers-and someone or something else entirely-in this psychological thriller.

She Came From The Woods – In 1987, a group of counselors accidentally unleashes a decades’ old evil on the last night of summer camp.

The Lake – A girl finds a strange egg and brings it back to her village, only to later realize it was from a monster. Now a giant monster emerges from the lake to search for the egg, destroying the town and its inhabitants.

Jagged Mind – Billie is plagued by blackouts and strange visions that lead her to discover she’s stuck in a series of time loops, possibly related to her mysterious new girlfriend.

Play Dead – Chloe fakes her own death to steal evidence from a morgue. The Coroner uses the morgue as a front for a sick and twisted business. A scary game of cat and mouse ensues as Chloe learns more about the dead than she bargains for.

Lord Of Misrule – A desperate search for the young daughter of the town’s new minister.

Elevator Game – A teen links the mysterious disappearance of his sister to a supernatural game that’s played in elevators.

Bunker – Trapped in a bunker during World War I, a group of soldiers are faced with an ungodly presence that slowly turns them against each other.

Hunt Her, Kill Her – A janitor in a furniture factory finds herself in a fight for her life when she becomes the target of sinister masked intruders.

There’s Something Wrong With The Children – A family takes a weekend trip with longtime friends and their two young children, but, they suspect something supernatural when the kids behave strangely after disappearing into the woods overnight.

House Of Dolls – Three sister reunite for a family inheritance only to confront their longtime issues. They’re left to remain in a doll house to collect the money but instead are plunged into a nightmare they must survive. A killer wants them and their friends dead.

Phantom Fun-World – Employees of the indoor fun park Phantom Fun World, find themselves targeted by a masked killer obsessed with the fictional character of The Phantom and the Park’s jaded history.

The Jester – A malevolent being known as The Jester terrorizes the inhabitants of a small town on Halloween night, including two estranged sisters who must come together to find a way to defeat this evil entity.

Malum – A rookie police officer willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station in an attempt to uncover the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult.

Clock – A woman enrolls in a clinical trial to try and fix her seemingly broken biological clock after friends, family, and society pressures her to have children.

The Flood – A daring jail break during a dangerous Louisiana hurricane is interrupted by a horde of large hungry alligators.

Devilreaux – A series of murders in 1800s will be avenged by forbidden voodoo, woken up accidentally by a group of teenagers.

Site 13 – Emerging from a 10-year catatonic state, Dr. Nathan Marsh watches tapes from his last outing to learn what Eldritch horrors he unleashed on the world.

Night Of The Hunted – A woman stops at a remote gas station in the middle of the night and becomes the target of a sociopathic sniper with a secret vendetta.

The Breach – Counting down his last days as Chief of Police in the tiny town of Lone Crow, John Hawkins must investigate one last case when a mangled body with uncanny wounds washes up on the shores of the Porcupine River.

It Lives Inside – An Indian-American teenager struggling with her cultural identity has a falling out with her former best friend and, in the process, unwittingly releases a demonic entity that grows stronger by feeding on her loneliness.

Fear The Invisible Man – A young widow shelters an old medical school colleague, a man who has somehow turned himself invisible. As he gradually descends into madness, he starts to unleash a reign of murder and terror across the city of London.

Wolf Mountain – Trying to unlock some repressed memories, a man agrees to join his girlfriend and some friends on a trip to the woods where his parents died to help it through, but when a group of thieves arrives and a strange series of deaths strikes them causes him to believe a local legend is responsible.

The Tank – After mysteriously inheriting an abandoned coastal property, Ben and his family accidentally unleash an ancient, long-dormant creature that terrorized the entire region-including his own ancestors-for generations.

You’re Killing Me – Eden attends a coveted heaven and hell party, hoping to get a letter of recommendation to an elite university, but she finds herself in a fight for her life.

Swallowed – Follows two best friends on their final night together, with a nightmare of drugs, bugs, and horrific intimacy.

Kill Her Goats – Audra’s graduation gift is her dream house, but it soon becomes a living nightmare when some uninvited guests come to her homecoming party who aren’t very subtle about the fact they don’t approve of the home’s new owner.


Well there you have it, my best & worst films of 2023! You may disagree with some or even most of my choices (this is MY opinion) and I know for a fact that I have missed some (I can’t watch ALL the films).
