EC Comics Is Returning!

EC Comics brand is being revived by Oni Press!

Horror fans, we finally have some news to celebrate!

After 70 years EC Comics is rising from the dead and it’s all thanks to Oni press. The company holds the right’s to EC Comics line and have said that they are set to launch all-new stories with A-list comics creators beginning this summer.

Oni’s publisher Hunter Gorinson stated:

“EC Comics is one of the most artistically important and culturally significant publishers of all time. In ways both artful and shocking, EC confronted the darkness lurking behind the thin facade of American society — a throughline of radically confrontational storytelling that we intend to both uphold and escalate with the first new EC tales in decades. We’re challenging ourselves to evolve EC’s relentless energy and fearless sensibilities in ways never before attempted. These are intense comics for our intense times.“

Corey Mifsud, executive director of William M. Gaines Agent, added: “This is not an exercise in nostalgia. These are comics meant to get people talking and to keep them up at night”. Now I don’t know about you but I am super excited about this.

As a huge comic book fan myself, and also someone who grew up reading stories from EC Comics, I think this is just fantastic. They’ve done some incredible tales over the years and the fact we have a chance to get some more, it’s just incredible.

Although the partnership is said to not be about nostalgia, I’m sure fans will be hoping that we do get to revisit some classics from “Tales From The Crypt”, “The Vault Of Horror” or one of the other many classics and the characters that come with them.

The first two comics under the new partnership are two new anthology titles that both lend themselves to the flair of their classics. First up “Epitaphs From The Abyss” which will be released in July followed by “Cruel Universe” in August.

Oni is hoping to make the new comics as relevant and influential as the original stories 70 years ago and I hope they can too. I’m seriously excited for what they havein store for readers.
