Horror Review: “Corman / Poe: Interviews and Essays Exploring the Making of Roger Corman’s Edgar Allan Poe Films, 1960-1964” (2023)

Explores a cult classic film series that stands among the most fascinating and enduring of all time.

I was extremely lucky to get sent a copy of this book by Chris Alexander to do a review.

It was these films that introduced me to the amazing Vincent Price, I still remember watching “The Pit And The Pendulum” at a young age. It was on TV and whilst I thought it was going to be a boring old film (like any kid would do), I was proven truly wrong.

This would be a life changing moment, probably why I remember it so fondly. It kicked off a lifelong love of a certain set of films that I would learn were known as the “Corman/Poe” films, I also learned that I wasn’t alone in this discovery either.

This book that Chris Alexander has released gives such an amazing insight into that time period, dissecting each film in great detail and making sure each one gets its own, much deserved spotlight. How can it get any better?

Well how about hearing from the man himself, Roger Corman, talk about the ins and outs and the behind the scenes goings on about each film. His amazing knowledge makes for truly interesting reading, makes the fact he’s no longer with us even sadder.

This book is full of so much information and beautiful artwork that I truly considert this a must buy, not even just for fans of the Corman/Poe films or Vincent Price, but for anyone who’s interested in the genre.
