For this ‘Ten Years On’ post we take a look back at “What We Do In The Shadows”.

I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like this film.

If I did, I don’t know if I’d trust them, I mean how can you not like it?! When this was released it was like a breath of fresh air, well for me it was anyway, it was a feature that just came out of absolutely nowhere and took everyone completely by surprise.

I couldn’t remember the last time I had laughed so much at a film before this, it still makes me cry laughter all these years later. There are so many memorable quotes that I use in my everyday life too, a sign of a great film in my eyes.

The film certainly helped launch the careers of it’s writers and directors, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, into the stratosphere and they became highly in demand. It certainly made Taika Waititi a household name that just keeps going.

The film was even turned into a TV series, a very successful one at that, it’s set to start it’s 6th and final season very soon and has won multiple awards. There was also a spin off titled “Wellington Paranormal” that ran for 4 seasons.

Ten years on and “What We Do In The Shadows” is still a hilarious and fun film to watch and is a firm favourite of many, me included.
