Ski-masked maniac kills apartment complex tenants with the contents of a toolbox.
The film is known for being one of the infamous ‘video nasties’ from the 70’s…
The problem with that label is that it hypes the film up to be more than it is, which can really derail you as a viewer, I know from experience.
Some hate the films sequencing, between the gore and humour and unconventional directing from Dennis Donnelly it leaves you feeling a little disorientated.
You have to take the film for what it is, a grindhouse feature, a fine one at that. It’s also helped by having some awesome cinematography that leaves an imprint on you and you can see the influence on later films.
A sequel was planned for a 1986 release but never finalized, however In 2004 it was remade, it wasn’t that bad but I’d stick with the original.
“The Toolbox Murders” isn’t for everyone but at-least give it a try, you never know.
