Taking a look over the past year in Horror.
Let’s be brutally honest, 2015 has been a bad year for Horror films.
I had quite high hopes at the beginning of this year, there was a-lot of hype flying around that had me thinking we were in for a good year for the Horror genre.
Whilst we did get some gems (which I won’t name just yet) we didn’t quite get anything that was huge or made an impact on the genre.
It’s been what I describe as a stale year, it feels like we’re building up-to something huge and that the genre is due a comeback in a big way but we have to slog through this bad patch first.
Say what you want about the “SAW” franchise but that was definitely a game changer and it helped rejuvenate the genre as it was becoming highly dull and very repetitive.
I feel like we’ve reached that stage once again in 2015, we’re getting a-lot of the same type of films and were just waiting for something new to come along, blow away the cobwebs and get things back on track with some quality films.
There’s no denying that 2015 Horror has been, well monotonous, and the good have been few and far between, infact very few and far between. So much so that some mediocre Horror films have been highly praised compared to other releases.
As loyal fans not only do we need something to rejuvenate the genre, but we deserve it. Here’s hoping 2016 is a better year, fingers crossed.
