My Best & Worst Films Of 2017

In this list I’m going to give you a run-down of my best & worst of 2017.

If you want to see the trailers for these films just click on the film name, I’d also like to point out they are in no particular favourite order, So here we go:


Geralds Game – While trying to spice up their marriage in their remote lake house, Jessie must fight to survive when her husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her handcuffed to their bed frame.

The Dark Tapes – A genre-defying mixture of horror, sci-fi, myth, mystery and thrills told as four interlocking tales in one intelligent anthology. Ghosts, spirits, creatures, demons and more from the paranormal world collide with rational curiosity.

XX – Four short horror films that are directed and written by women.


47 Meters Down – Two sisters vacationing in Mexico are trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean. With less than an hour of oxygen left and great white sharks circling nearby, they must fight to survive.


The Babysitter
– The events of one evening take an unexpected turn for the worst for a young boy trying to spy on his babysitter.


Phoenix Forgotten
– 20 years after three teenagers disappeared in the wake of mysterious lights appearing above Phoenix, Arizona, unseen footage from that night has been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition.

Better Watch Out – On a quiet suburban street, a babysitter must defend a twelve-year-old boy from intruders, only to discover it’s far from a normal home invasion.

The Evil Within – The sadistic tale of a lonely, mentally handicapped boy who befriends his reflection in an antique mirror. This demonic creature orders him to go on a murderous rampage to kill the people he loves most.

12 Feet Deep – Two sisters are unwittingly trapped under the fiberglass cover of an Olympic sized public pool and must brave the cold and each other to survive the harrowing night.


Puppet Master: Axis Termination
– Lethal puppets face off for the fate of the world.

It – A group of bullied kids band together when a shapeshifting monster, taking the appearance of a clown, begins hunting children.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe – A father and son, both coroners, are pulled into a complex mystery while attempting to identify the body of a young woman, who was apparently harboring dark secrets.

1922 – A simple yet proud farmer in the year 1922 conspires to murder his wife for financial gain, convincing his teenage son to participate.

Annabelle: Creation – 12 years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, where they soon become the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter – Two girls must battle a mysterious evil force when they get left behind at their boarding school over winter break.

Hounds Of Love – Vicki Maloney is randomly abducted from a suburban street by a disturbed couple. As she observes the dynamic between her captors she quickly realises she must drive a wedge between them if she is to survive.


Shut In
– Mary Portman is a widowed child psychologist who lives in isolation in rural Maine. The horrific car accident that killed her husband also left her 18-year-old stepson Stephen in a bedridden, catatonic state, leaving him completely dependent on her. When one of Portman’s young patients vanishes without a trace, she becomes convinced that the boy’s ghost is now in the house as a dangerous ice storm starts to wreak havoc outside.


The Void – Shortly after delivering a patient to an understaffed hospital, a police officer experiences strange and violent occurrences seemingly linked to a group of mysterious hooded figures.

Stake Land II – When his home of New Eden is destroyed by a revitalized Brotherhood and its new Vamp leader, Martin finds himself alone in the badlands of America with only the distant memory of his mentor and legendary vampire hunter, Mister, to guide him.


Berlin Syndrome
– A passionate holiday romance leads to an obsessive relationship, when an Australian photojournalist wakes one morning in a Berlin apartment and is unable to leave.

Don’t Hang Up – An evening of drunken prank calls becomes a nightmare for a pair of teenagers when a mysterious stranger turns their own game against them…with deadly consequences.


The Blair Witch Legacy
– In July 2017, three filmmakers traveled to Burkittsville, Maryland to document the untold truth behind the making of the original Blair Witch Project.


Mayhem – A virus spreads through an office complex causing white collar workers to act out their worst impulses.

The Monster Project – A recovering drug addict takes a job with a documentary crew who plans to interview three subjects who claim to be real life monsters.

Capture Kill Release – A couple plots to murder a random stranger just for the thrill of it, but things turn ugly when one of them decides not to go through with it.

Get Out – It’s time for a young African American to meet with his white girlfriend’s parents for a weekend in their secluded estate in the woods, but before long, the friendly and polite ambience will give way to a nightmare.


The Belko Experiment
– In a twisted social experiment, eighty Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia, and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.


Cult Of Chucky – Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife.

Split – Three girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities. They must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.


The Limehouse Golem – A series of murders has shaken the community to the point where people believe that only a legendary creature from dark times – the mythical so-called Golem – must be responsible.

Creep 2 – A video artist looking for work drives to a remote house in the forest to meet a man claiming to be a serial killer. But after agreeing to spend the day with him, she soon realizes that she made a deadly mistake.

Pet – Sweet but lonely Seth spends his days working in an animal shelter. In a hopeless daze, he has a chance encounter with beautiful young waitress Holly, who awakens something within him.

The Devil’s Candy – A struggling painter is possessed by satanic forces after he and his family move into their dream home.

Savageland – When a small town near the Arizona-Mexico border is wiped out overnight, suspicion falls on the lone survivor. But a roll of photos the survivor took that night tells a different story.

Child Eater – A simple night of babysitting takes a horrifying turn when Helen realizes the boogeyman really is in little Lucas’ closet.

The Evil In Us – While on a fourth of July holiday, six best friends fall victim to the insidious plan of a mysterious organization when they are unknowingly transformed into bloodthirsty cannibals.

It Comes At Night – Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son. Then a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge.


The Wolves At The Door
– Four friends gather at an elegant home during the Summer of Love, 1969. Unbeknownst to them, deadly visitors are waiting outside. What begins as a simple farewell party turns to a night of primal terror as the intruders stalk and torment the four, who struggle for their lives against what appears to be a senseless attack.


Cage Dive
– Three friends filming an audition tape for an extreme reality show, take part in shark cage diving, only to be left in great white infested waters, turning their recording into life and death.

Prevenge – Widow Ruth is seven months pregnant when, believing herself to be guided by her unborn baby, she embarks on a homicidal rampage, dispatching anyone who stands in her way.

The Bye Bye Man – Three friends stumble upon the horrific origins of a mysterious figure they discover is the root cause of the evil behind unspeakable acts.


Alien: Covenant
– The crew of a colony ship, bound for a remote planet, discover an uncharted paradise with a threat beyond their imagination, and must attempt a harrowing escape.


Ghost House – A young couple go on an adventurous vacation to Thailand only to find themselves haunted by a malevolent spirit after naively disrespecting a Ghost House.


Slasher.Com
– After meeting online, Jack and Kristy go on a weekend getaway to the woodlands of rural Missouri. While discovering each other, they soon learn of the terrorizing horrors that the forest has in store.

House on Willow Street – After a young woman is kidnapped, her captors soon come to realize that in fact they may be the ones in danger and this young woman has a dark secret inside her.


Red Net
– A hacker looking for a missing man, what he finds out are videos in which the man is questioned and tortured till he drops by two mysterious women.

Drifter – A pair of outlaw brothers seek temporary refuge in a desolate town inhabited by a small family of psychotic cannibalistic lunatics.


The Hollow One
– While searching for her missing father, an emotionally damaged woman confronts her tragic past and a shadowy figure with sinister intentions.

Awakening The Zodiac – In 1968, one of the deadliest serial killers in U.S. history disappeared without a trace. His identity and cryptic messages remained unsolved for decades…until now.

Ibiza Undead – The holiday of a group of friends is ruined by a sudden outbreak of a zombie virus.

Raw – When a young vegetarian undergoes a carnivorous hazing ritual at vet school, an unbidden taste for meat begins to grow in her.

Flatliners – Five medical students, obsessed by what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife.


Pitchfork
– Hunter invites his New York friends to his parents’ Michigan farm, where a dangerous creature from Hunter’s past still lurks.

It Stains The Sand Red – In the throes of a zombie apocalypse, a troubled woman from Las Vegas with a dark past finds herself stranded in the desert with a lone and ravenous zombie on her tail.

Wish Upon – A teenage girl discovers a box that carries magic powers and a deadly price for using them.

Found Footage 3D – A group of filmmakers sets out to make the first 3D found footage horror movie, but find themselves IN a found footage horror movie when the evil entity from their film escapes into their behind-the-scenes footage.

Escape Room – Six friends test their intelligence in a game that takes a dark turn.

Temple – Three American tourists use a mysterious map to find an ancient temple deep in the jungles of Japan. Their adventure soon turns into a nightmare when malevolent spirits trap them inside.

Let Her Out – After a traumatic accident, a bike courier begins to experience blackouts and hallucinations. She soon discovers that she’s being dangerously influenced, and even controlled, by her unborn twin.

Jackals – After the Powells hire a cult deprogrammer to take back their teenage son from a murderous cult, they find themselves under siege when the cultists surround their cabin, demanding the boy back.


Red Christmas
– A widow and her bickering family gather at her remote estate on Christmas Eve. She must soon protect them all from a hideously deformed killer who’s out for bloody revenge.


The Sublet
– Joanna, a new mother, questions her sanity and starts to think her apartment building may be haunted.


Killing Ground
– A couples’ camping trip turns into a frightening ordeal when they stumble across the scene of a horrific crime.

The Toymaker – In Germany, 1941, the Nazis pursue a Toymaker who has acquired a mystical book which gives life to inanimate objects.

Little Evil – Gary, who has just married Samantha, the woman of his dreams, discovers that her six-year-old son may be the Antichrist.

Slumber – A doctor must confront her own nightmares while battling a parasitic demon that preys on people while they sleep.

One Of Us – A young journalist goes deep undercover within a mountain commune and becomes manipulated by a duplicitous cult leader.


The Houses October Built 2
– Recovering from the trauma of being kidnapped last Halloween by the Blue Skeleton – a group who take “extreme haunt” to another level – five friends decide they must face their fears in order to move on.

Rings – A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it.

WTF! – Three years after surviving a mass murder, Rachel heads into the woods with six of her closest friends to celebrate spring break. Her biggest fear becomes a reality once again as another bloodbath begins.

Leatherface – A violent teen and three others kidnap a young nurse while escaping from a Texas mental institution. Pursued by a vengeful sheriff, the disturbed young man embarks on a murderous rampage that shapes him into a legendary killer known as Leatherface.

Amityville: The Awakening – A desperate single mother moves with her three children into the notorious, supposedly haunted, real-life Amityville house to try and use its dark powers to cure her comatose son. Things go horribly wrong.


Dead Awake – A young woman must save herself and her friends from an ancient evil that stalks its victims through the real-life phenomenon of sleep paralysis.

The Crucifixion – Terror strikes when a journalist investigates the death of a nun during an exorcism.

Well there you have it, my best & worst films of 2017, you probably disagree with some or even most (this is MY opinion) of my choices and I know for a fact that I have missed some (I can’t watch ALL the films) but this is MY best & worst so tell me in the comment box below, what’s yours?
