“Too Macabre – The Making Of Elvira Mistress Of The Dark” goes behind the scenes of the 1988 cult comedy starring the hostess with the mostess Elvira.
It’s well known that I love a good documentary. Especially when it’s based around our beloved genre.
‘Making Of’ style documentaries usually give the viewer an insight into how a film was made, what went into it and maybe a bit of insider gossip from behind the scenes stories. It’s all fun stuff and as fans we enjoy hearing all these stories and listening to the actors and crew tell them.
But let’s be honest here, watching a bunch of talking heads for a couple of hours can become somewhat tedious and a bit repetitive. Luckily for us none of that applies here, I mean yes it features talking heads but it’s so damn entertaining that you find the time just flies by.
This documentary has so much charm to it and you can truly tell that everyone involved had such a great time being a part of the film. Everybody has a huge grin from ear to ear as they talk about their involvement with the feature, so much so that you find yourself smiling with them.
We also hear some truly insightful stories and even a few hilarious one as well. the documentary also goes into a lot of depth that you rarely see get touched upon in these types of features, it becomes much much more than just some ‘Making Of’ documentary and it just oozes charisma.
“Too Macabre – The Making Of Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark” is one of the best film documentaries I’ve seen in a while, it was a ton of fun to watch and made me love and respect the film even more.
