On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.
I do love it when a film completely surprises you, which is exactly what we have here.
Before I saw this film all I’d seen were people bad mouthing it online, because of this I sadly ended up avoiding watching it for quite a while. I usually don’t let other peoples opinions of films get to me but for some unknown reason it did and it was only when I was struggling to find something to watch that I decided to give it a go.
Let’s be honest here, when it comes to films about walk through scare attractions there have been more bad than good. With this in mind and with the bad fan reviews I help very low expectations going into this film, boy oh boy was I about to be proven that I was very wrong.
Sure the story and set up is nothing original but what I saw was a very well executed film (no pun intended) that manage to grab your attention and never let go, something that is hard to do in this day and age. I love it when a film surprises me like this, shame on me for avoiding it for so long.
The acting in the film is very well done and I loved the thought that went into the set ups of each room, it works really well and sets up an eerie atmosphere that manages to flow through out the film. It really has a bleak feeling to it that fits well with the story and I absolutely loved it.
“Haunt” is a film that helps prove that there are films not in the mainstream that are not only just as good but better. Do yourself a favour and don’t do what I did and avoid it, make sure you watch it.
