A series of unrelated short stories covering elements of crime, horror, drama, and comedy about people of different backgrounds committing murders, suicides, thefts, and other sorts of crime caused by certain motivations, perceived or not.
Ever since I first watched “Psycho” I’ve had something of an obsession with the works of Alfred Hitchcock. His work speaks for itself but I hardly hear people talk about the TV show “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, so I figured I’d do a list of my favourite episodes.
So here it is, my list of my top thirteen “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” episodes (the list is not in a favouritism order):
“Man From The South”
In a Las Vegas casino, an unpleasant little man hopes to use a young man’s wish to impress the young woman he has just met to pressure the young fellow into accepting a macabre bet.
“Lamb To The Slaughter”
When Mary Maloney’s police chief husband is found murdered, the police investigate and have a hard time trying to find the murder weapon.
“Poison”
Harry Pope is lying in bed and discovers that there is a sleeping snake on his stomach.
“Banquo’s Chair”
A retired detective plans to make a suspect in a murder think he’s seeing the victim’s ghost on the anniversary of her death in the home she was murdered in. Others are invited to pretend they see nothing, hoping to jar a confession.
“The Perfect Crime”
A lawyer, with blackmail in mind, meets with a famed detective to prove he convicted an innocent man.
“The Creeper”
A frightened housewife is alone in her apartment when she begins to suspect just about anyone could be the unknown killer who has been strangling women.
“The Right Kind Of House”
Mr. Waterbury believes he can get a good deal on some real estate because a murder occurred in the home. But he hasn’t dealt with Sadie Grimes the owner who refuses to lower the price because of an emotional attachment.
“Breakdown”
William Callew is involved in a bad traffic accident on a rural road, that leaves him so paralyzed he appears lifeless, and when help arrives they think he’s really dead.
“Shopping For Death”
Two retired insurance salesmen confront an aggressive, hostile woman in hopes of saving her from a disaster.
“The Glass Eye”
Captivated by the actor’s physical beauty, an aging spinster pulls up stakes to follow a ventriloquist and his dummy from performance to performance; finally, the man consents to a much-wanted meeting.
“Arthur”
When his pretty ex-fiancée returns from another failed relationship, a chicken farmer not wanting anything to do with her, decides to eliminate her.
“Help Wanted”
To pay for his wife’s operation, Mr. Crabtree takes a job working for the mysterious Mr. X, who asks him to manage a job involving a blackmailer.
