For this ‘Ten Years On’ post we take a look back at “The Bay”.
I’ve always enjoyed a mockumentary/found footage style film so this was certainly a film that I wanted to see.

Now there’s no doubting that these style of films can be pretty polarising amongst Horror fans, but one thing I think we can agree on is when they’re done well they can make for entertaining viewing. In my opinion this is a great example of one that is extremely well made.
I give high praise to the writers for their great work on this feature, with the interconnecting stories being told in such a way that you feel like you’re personally involved in what’s going on. I love it when that happens and it’s something you seem to get more out of these style of films.

With the story being told from multiple perspectives we get a very well rounded narrative that makes for an atmospheric and tense viewing. The fact that the cast are all great, it’s been very well directed and it features some awesome effects is all just a big bonus for viewers.
Some viewers have said that they found the eco element of the film too political in a way, as if it was some agenda. Whilst I can appreciate that, in my opinion you can just watch the film and enjoy it as a biological outbreak film that we have certainly seen a lot of in the Horror genre.

“The Bay” still impresses me and ten years on it’s just as relevant, if not more, as it was on it’s release.
