My Top Fifteen Vampire Films

Dracula, Vampire, Bloodsucker, Undead Creature….

There are many terms the character goes by but they fit the same character, for the sake of this list I’m just gonna use the term Vampire for simplicity.

So here it is, my list of my fifteen Vampire films (the list is not in a favouritism order):

Near Dark

A small-town farmer’s son reluctantly joins a traveling group of vampires after he is bitten by a beautiful drifter.

Stake Land

In a world of vampires, an expert vampire hunter and his young protégé travel toward sanctuary.

What We Do In The Shadows

Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav are vampires who are struggling with the mundane aspects of modern life, like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.

Horror Of Dracula

Jonathan Harker rouses the ire of Count Dracula after he accepts a job at the vampire’s castle under false pretenses. Harker’s friend, Dr. Van Helsing, then embarks on a hunt for the predatory villain when he targets Harker’s loved ones.

Shadow Of The Vampire

The filming of Nosferatu (1922) is hampered by the fact that its star Max Schreck is taking the role of a vampire far more seriously than seems humanly possible.

From Dusk Till Dawn

Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires, with chaotic results.

The Lost Boys

After moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.

Hutter is sent by his master to finalise a deal with Count Orlok. However, he soon learns that Orlok is a vampire who has his eyes set on Hutter’s wife, Ellen.

Fright Night

A teenager discovers that the newcomer in his neighborhood is a vampire, so he turns to an actor in a television horror show for help dealing with the undead.

Transylvanian locals warn solicitor Renfield against going to Count Dracula’s castle for business reasons. They dread that a vampire lives there. But Dracula, disguised as a driver, takes him there.

The Night Flier

Rival reporters tail a vampire who travels by airplane, claiming victims at small isolated airports.

A young man, who believes himself to be a vampire, goes to live with his elderly and hostile cousin in a small Pennsylvania town where he tries to redeem his blood-craving urges.

Two best friends see their trip of a lifetime take a dark turn when one of them is struck by a mysterious affliction. Now, in a foreign land, they race to uncover the source before it consumes him completely.

Nosferatu The Vampyre

Count Dracula moves from Transylvania to Wismar, spreading the Black Plague across the land. Only a woman pure of heart can bring an end to his reign of horror.

And last but not least is a film that may have people wondering why it’s on this list but I don’t care as it’s one of my favourites all the way back from my childhood:

Dracula: Dead And Loving It

A spruce Count Dracula relocates from his Transylvanian castle to Victorian London with his servile assistant hunting for fresh blood. He finds it in a duo of gorgeous young women.

Honourable Mentions:

30 Days Of Night

The Last Man On Earth

My Best Friend Is A Vampire

This was extremely difficult and I’ve had to leave out some greats, also before anyone asks, “WHAT ABOUT SALEM’S LOT?!”, the 1979 masterpiece is a TV mini series and not a film. Let me know your favourite Vampire films in the comments below.
