Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Creature From The Black Lagoon” franchise review.
It’s been a lot of fun looking back over this franchise.

I absolutely love this series and the ‘Creature’ AKA ‘Gill Man’ is my second favourite “‘”Universal Monster”‘” behind ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’ so again, this was a lot of fun to go back over. It’s also considered the last of the iconic “Universal Monster” films.
Unfortunately, and usurprisingly, there has been talks of several remake over the years, though luckily none have come to fruition. The likes of John Landis, Ivan Reitman ,John Carpenter and more have had there names connected over the years.

The closest we ever got to a remake was Guillermo del Toro’s absolutely beautiful 2017 film, “The Shape Of Water”. Whilst not a remake, I see it more as a ‘love letter’ to the character and it’s a film that only Del Toro could get away with doing.
‘Famous Monsters’ writer Forrest J. Ackerman, bought the mask and claws of the Creature’s costume from a young man who had once used them as a Halloween costume. The costume pieces were discarded by Universal after production had finished on the three films and were later recovered from the studio’s dumpster by a janitor, who thought the ensemble would make a good Halloween costume for his son.

In interviews, Ben Chapman would often thank the fans for keeping the movie’s popularity alive. He believed that if not for loyal fans, “Creature From The Black Lagoon” would have been just another long-forgotten monster film.
To prove it’s iconic status it’s one of only seven Universal films to be included on every collection of “Universal Classic Monsters” home video releases from the studio (The Classic Collection, Classic Monster Collection, The Legacy Collection, Essential Collection and Complete Collection).

“Creature From The Black Lagoon” is an iconic monster and a fun series to watch, b-movie sci-fi Horror at it’s best.
