Six strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms, and must use their wits to survive.
First of all I’d like to state that that is one awful one sheet, it’s so lazy and generic that it actually put me off watching it for a while. Studios don’t seem to realise how much of an effect these posters can have of an audience, a cool poster has drawn me in more times than a lazy one like this.
With that being said I have to say that apart from really not liking that one sheet (I’m sorry I just can’t get over how bad it is) I did find that I really enjoyed the film. I don’t know why I was so shocked to find myself enjoying it as much as I did, maybe my expectations were so low that I managed to enjoy it for what it was.
I was really pleased with the casting, Deborah Ann Woll is a great actress and I feel we’ve still got more to come from her, the same goes for Taylor Russell. We also have Tyler Labine who always makes me laugh but we do see more range from him in this film which is good and the rest of the cast do a stand up job as well.
“Escape Room” is best described as the love child of “Cube” and “SAW”, so that should tell you if this movie is for you or not. Try and just enjoy it for what it is, a roller coaster ride of a film with suspense and entertainment. I look forward to seeing where this goes.
