A family moves into a secluded mansion where they soon find themselves being targeted by an entity taking the form of a giant spider.
I have a lot of friends and family who are terrified of spiders, personally they’ve never bothered me, but when it comes to films it can be very different.
I remember watching the film “Arachnaphobia” as a child, it may have made my skin crawl but it didn’t scare me (though I did check the shower a couple of times before getting in). I only mention this because “Arachnaphobia” is the film people use as a measuring stick for other spider related movies.
I honestly went into this with little expectations and found myself pleasantly surprised with the feature, though I must warn you that this film will not please everyone. Whilst the film is centred around a giant spider running amok in a house there is a family drama at play too.
At times it can be like your watching two separate films, you really do get pulled in to the family drama and it’s a great way to get you feeling for the characters and you find yourself really rooting for them when the killer spider is back on screen bringing back the Horror.
Understandably i think this could be off putting for some viewers but I thought it worked well, also I have to say that I think the actors did a great job. Kudos also goes to the effects team, sure there’s a couple of dodgy CGI scenes but the practical stuff is really great and will please fans.
“Itsy Bitsy” is definitely on the lower budget spectrum and I don’t see it winning any awards but it has a ton of charm, sure it’s no “Arachnaphobia” but you could certainly choose something worse to watch than this.
