Rivalries, dark secrets, and sexual tension emerge when three best friends find themselves stranded on a yacht in the middle of the ocean desperate for survival.
I had the honour of seeing this film on the big screen at the Grimmfest event last year.
This was one of those rare moments where I got to see a film that I knew very little about, all I knew was that it was about a group of friends on a boat. When was the last time you saw a film in a cinema that you knew so little about? I love it when these moments happen, It’s a true rarity in this day and age.
What followed over the next eighty plus minutes was one of the most entertaining horror comedies I’d seen in quite a while. I often find these types of films can be hit and miss, there’s a fine line where the film can become of too much of one or the other but when done properly can be brilliant.
Luckily for us writer and director Rob Grant balances that line perfectly and with his use of dark humour and subtle use of brutal Horror mixed with a well paced story we get what is a highly enjoyable feature. It’s also very witty script and the story is never as it seems, also each character is wrote fantastically.
Talking of the characters, each actor is an excellent choice for their roles and they really do play them to perfection. I was quite shocked at how good the characters are wrote and played in a film that is only eighty plus minutes long, a big kudos to both writer and the actors.
“Harpoon” is an indie feature that manages to do what these type of films should do, it manages to entertain, captivate and shock you. I highly recommend you lookout for this and be sure to give it a watch.
