For this ‘Ten Years On’ post we take a look back at “The Descent”.
I can’t believe it’s been ten years since “The Descent” was released, I knew it had been a while but TEN YEARS?!
Well, enough of my crisis, let’s get back to the fim. I remember seeing the trailer for this film and saw that it was a Neil Marshall film, I remembered his name from Dog Soldiers which immediately peaked my interest.
This release trust his name into the mainstream and should’ve made him a huge star but for some reason his career seemed to just go stale and he hasn’t directed a film since 2010.
I remember being struck by the fact it was an all female cast, quite a rarity, but Marshall deals well same sex groups as he did the same with “Dog Soldiers” and gave us a great story to go with it.
The film is full of tension and once the group enter the caves it becomes claustrophobic and atmospheric viewing, just a perfect setting of what’s to come.
“The Descent” has aged quite well and is still loved by many Horror fans, don’t forget to check out the sequel as-well.
